Creating and Optimizing a Tagline For a Financial Adviser’s Website

Beyond branding yourself, a tagline should also be optimized for keywords. Therefore, if someone searches for the phrase “your location+financial advisor“, the correct keywords can get you listed # 1 in the search results.

If you want to get found in the search engines, being in the top 3 search results should be your goal. It’s been shown that the first search result gets clicked on 50% of the time. The second website listed gets selected about 25% and the third about 12.5%.

If you can optimize your website so 10% of your visitors give you permission to contact them and 25% of those visitors become clients, you can see the power of marketing online. If you had just 400 new visitors a month, and 40 signed up for your newsletter. Then, you converted 25% of your newsletter subscribers, that’s 10 new clients a month.

Finding Your Keywords

It does you no good to be listed #1 in the search engines for a term nobody is searching for. Luckily, finding out what people the terms people are searching for is fairly easy.

Just head over to Google Keyword Tool by searching for it in Google.

Next, type in “your city name” plus financial advisor.

One interesting thing I noticed was that monthly, there are an average of 368,000 searches for financial advisor on Google. There are only 60,500 searches each month for the phrase financial adviser. I also tested this out on individual cities like Chicago, New York, and San Diego. Again, the term financial advisor, with an o, was always searched more than financial adviser, by a wide margin. Very important for those creating their taglines.

The term financial adviser doesn’t have to be in your tagline. Other keywords that you might want to research include financial planner, financial planning, retirement planning, Remember, it’s your goal to get highly target traffic using very specific search times.

Use Google Keyword Tool, to find at least 10 keywords that have more than 25 searches a month. Advise Marketing.
